Ableton Live – Plugin Not Showing Up (PC)

Problem: You installed Safari Plugins but they don’t appear in Ableton Live.

Step 1: Check Plugin Preferences

Open Ableton Live → Options → Preferences → Plug-Ins.

Make sure the following option is ON:

• Use VST3 Plug-In System Folder

Step 2: Rescan Plugins

In the Plug-Ins tab, click Rescan.

For a deeper scan (clears Live’s plugin blocklist):

• Hold Alt while clicking Rescan

Check the browser/device list — your Safari plugins should appear.

Tip: If they still don’t show:

1. Turn Off VST3

2. Click Rescan

3. Turn them back On and rescan again

This reset often resolves detection issues.

Step 3: Verify Installation Path

Ensure the plugin files are installed in the correct location:

VST3: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\

Check that the plugin files (.vst3) exist in this folder.

Step 4: Restart Ableton Live

After rescanning, close and reopen Ableton Live to refresh the plugin list.
Your Safari plugins should now appear in the Plug-in Browser.

Tips / Troubleshooting

• Only VST3 format is supported on Windows.

• If a plugin was previously blocked, holding Alt while rescanning removes it from Live’s blacklist.

• Keep only the latest plugin version to avoid conflicts.

• Restart Live after rescanning for changes to take effect.
